You Know...That One Cool Cat!

I am in love with all things, Pete the Cat!  I will admit it!  I'm guessing most of you enjoy reading these super fun, sing song books with your class as well.  Please tell me I'm not alone.

Anyways, I'm really grabbing ahold of this little guy and building him up during that first week of school.  I love how the owls pick up on the rhythm of the book and can start to "read" along with me.  What a great motivator and way to show the owls that they really can read!

I will be including this cool cat in not just my literacy time but will also have him pop up in some math workstations as well.  I put together a little freebie for you all to help your littles work on their number identification and counting with numbers one to ten.  Click the picture below to grab it!  Please leave some love if you do.  I love hearing that what I spent time creating is enjoyed by others!

And don't forget I am running a Buy One, Get One Free SALE in my TpT store through next Saturday, August 17.

Click the picture below to take a look!  If you end up buying something, send me an email (andeair@hotmail.com) with your TpT name, product bought, and what you would like for free!  Super simple!

Enjoy your Sunday!

Too Much to Process and a Freebie!

I think that I am finally getting back into the swing of being home and keeping up with my silly little man.  (Side note-I have been napping like nobody's business since I got home!)

To say that I Teach K! in Las Vegas was amazing would be a huge understatement.  I really do not think there is a word to describe how this conference was for me.  I learned so much that my mind is still spinning and met so many great people.  Here are a couple of my favorite pictures from the trip-

Picture was taken while we were walking the strip.  Keep in mind the emptiness of the street was a rare sight to see.  We took complete advantage of the calm during the day!

The beautiful view outside of the Mirage.

The sessions I attended were fantastic and allowed me to see that I am doing a lot of things correctly already, but did offer suggestions on how to improve those things.  I also gained a ton of new knowledge on the Common Core and interventions.

After I got home from Las Vegas, I turned around and headed down to Chicago for a 3 day workshop on the Common Core Standards.  Let me tell you, I have not even attempted to read through my notes from this.  I learned so much that I am slowly letting everything set in.  Here is my favorite picture from Chicago-
Heidi from Sugar Plum Kindegarten, myself, Kim from KinderGals (leader for the Kindergarten sessions,) and Fran from Kindergarten Crayons.  These ladies were awesome and helped me to feel more confident in my understanding of the Common Core.

I promise that I will have more to share as I get a better hold on everything that I learned.  Until then, please feel free to grab this back to school freebie!

A First Time for Everything!

While I was lesson planning this weekend, I created a couple of recording/evidence pages for the stations that I came up with.  I'm going to attempt to attach them here for you to have as a freebie.  Please leave me a comment and let me know if you have any problems with it or if you would like to see anything added/changed.  Keep in mind this is the first time I am offering a downloadable (is that a word?) freebie, so it doesn't look as cute as all the other products out there YET!?!

The first freebie I made to go with some extra plastic eggs I had laying around.  I put different shaped mini erasers inside.  The little owls will open the eggs up, sort the erasers, and then write/solve an addition equation.  The second freebie is for a literacy station to review alphabet recognition.  I am going to hide letter beads in a small plastic bucket full of jelly beans.  The little owls will dig through the jelly beans, find the letters, and identify/write the letters.  I will take pictures of these in action this week as my camera was left at school this weekend.  :(
